Over 17 years ago, I embarked on my photographic journey with PictureMe Portrait Studios. Starting as a photographer, I quickly rose through the ranks to become Studio Manager, learning every aspect of the business from capturing the perfect shot to managing client expectations and studio operations. I spent many years there, honing my craft and building lasting relationships with clients who trusted me to capture their most precious moments. However, all good things come to an end, and PictureMe eventually closed its doors permanently.
The closure left a void in my life, not just because I lost a job I loved but because I saw the community lose access to affordable, quality portrait photography. I felt the impact of this loss personally but didn't realize the broader implications until last summer.
Last summer, I learned just how expensive quality photographers had become in the Central Arkansas area. My nephew, excited about his upcoming wedding, faced a dilemma: he could afford either the venue or a professional photographer, but not both. It was a heart-wrenching choice for him and his fiancée, one that many others in our community were likely facing as well.
I couldn't stand by and watch this happen. I stepped in to photograph their wedding, reigniting my passion for photography and reminding me of why I fell in love with the art in the first place. That day, amidst the laughter, the tears, and the love, I saw the joy that beautiful, affordable photography could bring. It was then I decided to act on an idea that had been brewing in my mind since PictureMe shut down.
Thus, Knapping Dragon Photography was born. I realized that with PictureMe's closure, I hadn't just lost my job; the community had lost an essential service. Everyone deserves to have those precious moments captured without straining their budget.
My mission with Knapping Dragon Photography is clear: to bring back those affordable, high-quality portraits to Central Arkansas. I aim to keep prices low while still producing images that you will absolutely love. Each photograph is a story, a memory frozen in time, and I believe everyone should have the chance to tell their stories beautifully without financial worry.
